Maisonette loft window addition

Options
Hi all,
I've been looking all over the web and planning portal for this answer but can't seem to work it out. It could just be me being a bit dim so apologies in advance.
I own a maisonette and the previous owners did the loft conversion.

This is what the Planning Portal says for flats and maisonettes wanting to do loft conversions.

"Planning Permission

Planning permission may not be required if it is only internal works. However, local interpretation can vary and you should contact your local planning authority for advice. Permission is required where you extend or alter the roof space."

I want to add more windows to the loft as the 2 in there just don't bring enough light in. Do I need planning permission for this or can I just add the new skylights as the loft is already converted, or would doing this still be classified as altering the roof space?

Thank you in advance

You have already found the answer to your question.

"Planning permission may not be required if it is only internal works."

Clearly adding windows is not only internal works it is also external.

Remember, flats and maisonettes do not have PD rights, so anything which affects to outside will need PP.

Also, being a maisonette, I guess it's leasehold. So you need to check the terms of the lease to see if you need consent from the freeholder - it's possible that the freeholder owns the roof, so you'll need their consent to cut holes in it.

(Hopefully, you've checked that the roof space is included in your lease - as opposed to the previous owners quietly converting the roof space that didn't belong to them.)

Thank you. I suspected the answer was staring me in the face but just wasn't sure.
And yes, I share the freehold with another lady so at least 1 out of 2 are in my favour
    Thanks again

The answer wasn't staring you in the face.  Flats and maisonettes don't have PD Rights and so any changes like that would require planning permission!
