Hi,

I’m eyeing up the possibility of buying a ford ranger as a second car, green peace look away now!

Is there website where I can just enter the reg plate and find out what the tax was for this year?

Thanks in advance

No, you need the reference number on the V5 as well.
You can attempt to find out from the model and year, but sometimes the emissions changed part way through a model year and it can be wrong.

I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

Depending on if it was first registered as a LCV or car. LCV will have a lower VED.

I believe the only way to do that is through the gov vehicle tax page if you have the V5 number.  I think it is a straight light commercial vehicle rate though. https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-tax-rate-tables/other-vehicle-tax-rates

I have an app on my phone called Vehicle Smart - I've just put the reg of a random 2008 Ford Ranger in, and it's given me back a VED rate of £265 per year.
    Give that a try :)

Wow that’s great thanks everybody, mattyprice I’ll take your word £265 is the region I imagined it to be in.. hopefully fuel might stay as cheap as it is now for a while !

    Thanks again
