Maternity and Furlough

My partner is currently on maternity leave which is due to end July 4th. She works as a hairdresser so there’s a good chance the salon won’t be open by then. With the new rules around the furlough scheme stating the latest date for new applicants is the 10th June. Will there be anything in place after this date for those returning from mat leave. Or should her boss end mat leave now upon her request and begin Furlough just in case they can’t open.
Any advice is much appreciated.

It is something they have said they were looking at, people coming back from maternity leave. I have not seen anything yet. So you will have to wait I see, I guess an option could be to end maternity and start furlough anyway. If you don’t want to risk waiting and seeing.

Martin mentioned this in his program last week. He said that he is hoping to have some clarification in his next program. Of course, this isn't aired until Thursday, so will be too late for the June 10th cut-off . . .It's not difficult!
