I have a holiday in Iceland booked for 10 days time. All flights and hotels booked individually by me on a non-refundable basis. Flights are operating and hotels are open. But can’t go due to UK Government travel rules.
Airline & Hotels have offered changing dates/voucher within a year.
To accept voucher offers, I need to do it before trip date. But I prefer to claim on travel insurance, which would be after the trip date.
i cannot get hold of the travel insurance company - no phones, no reply to emails.
Question: will insurance pay out, if I don’t accept the vouchers which have been offered?
PLEASE only respond if you know the answer!

I think it may depend on your specific insurance and the cover it provides. There isn't a one size fits all.
Do you have travel disruption cover,?All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
The insurance itself isn’t an issue. It’s whether or not they argue that I should have taken the vouchers previously on offer.0

Unless you can get a definitive answer from your insurers, and no one knows which insurance policy you have, so we can't answer your question, you should assume they won't pay out as that has been the overall response from insurers during this pandemic1

My personal opinion and I’m by no means an expert is that you have been offered a viable alternative in the form of vouchers. Your insurance are unlikely to pay out with the knowledge that you have been offered these and you were booked on a non refundable basis. As Alan has said most insurance claims have been unsuccessful in the past few months due to the current situation.
Just a side note it’s unlikely that anyone on here will be able to give you a definitive response. People on here give their time and best efforts to help but we cannot say for certain as we are not your insurance company.1 -
Thanks for responses. The Company is AXA, and as far as I can see, it is paying out in general, but I haven't found anybody else with same set of circumstances.
You could be right though Mrsn when you say would they pay when we were offered vouchers on a non-refundable booking.0 -
Why push your luck ? Surely you want to go when you can, take the vouchers and use them in the future.0
