Ebays 30 day refund policy

Hi........I bought a pair of safety boots on the 27th Feb 2020 and this week the left boots sole came apart from the upper (walking around like a flip flop), after taking a good look at the boot area there was no sign of any wear or tear on the boot toe that could have caused the damage. But looked like a manufacture fault, the glue failed to hold.
I contacted the seller and sent 3 pictures of the problem, today he replied saying I should have reported it within 30 days when I bought the boots to get an ebay refund, so tough look no refund for you matey, we are using Ebays 30 day refund policy to hide behind.
Ebay said the same thing, but I was still in the 180 day paypal policy and should open a dispute for a refund, still waiting for a response from them.
So my understanding is when buying something of ebay "New" you do not get a 12 month warranty as you would when buying physically from a shop, could someone clarify this for me............thank you

You have the same rights with a business seller as you would off ebay.
If you bought from this sellers site direct,would you have a third party mediating a warranty claim?

Failing that you'd need to contact Trading Standards via your local council and see what they advise.

Paypals buyer protection is NOT a warranty. Unless the boots arrived in that condition or failed on first use you are not eligible.
If the seller is a business and trading is from the UK you are covered under legislation. As the purchase was less than 6 months ago the fault is deemed inherent and the retailer must act. Therefore the question on the sellers status is an important one.1 -

eBay offer 30 days from the last ETA to claim not as described. You can still open a not as described return after this but eBay won't step in and help.
Paypal offer 180 days for not as described but do detail it's not a warranty so I don't think it would cover this situation.
A warranty is in addition to your consumer rights, may or may not be offered in any transaction and can be by an (fair) terms.
Your consumer rights permit you longer to seek a remedy, as the fault has become apparent within 6 months it is taken that the goods did not conform to the contract unless the retailer demonstrates otherwise.
To enforce your consumer rights you'd need to send a letter before action and follow with small claims. You should check the seller is not based in China, etc (despite sending from the UK) before going down this road.
If the boots were cheap, generic boots then it's probably easiest to give up on them and pay extra for a better pair particularly if you use them daily.

I would like to update my eBay refund for faulty boots
I finally got a FULL REFUND through PayPal, the seller would not refund and Paypal stepped in, they looked at the pictures and found in my favour that the boots were a manufacturing fault.
