Rent Request Problem

Options
Hi
I am a self employed beauty therapist and rent a room from someone else who runs another business from the premises. I haven't been working since March 23rd and so have had no income since then, although have had some money from the government through the self employed scheme to pay bills etc. The business that I rent my room from has now requested that I pay the rent for the last 10 weeks that I have not worked. I don't have the money for this and my child is not yet back to school so won't be starting work any time soon so 10 weeks will shortly turn in to 14 weeks which I can't pay.
Can anyone help me on this? I need to know where I stand from a legal standpoint as my contract with them simply states that if I default on the rent and monies owned are not paid within 30 days then the agreement will be terminated. I am also assuming they would have had a rent holiday for some of the time that we have not been operating in the premises.

Thanks

If you can't pay, I suggest you post on the Debt Free Wannabe board. Lots of people there often have helped others who claim they can't afford to pay their bills.

Have you thought about a Bounce Back Loan?

Did you get legal advice before signing that contract? It seems fairly clear to me: if you don't pay the rent then you won't have the room.

Why are you assuming they would have had a rent holiday? Have you checked whether that assumption is correct?
