Cleaning an Oven

What is the best way to clean an oven?
We are in a rental property so know we will need to clean it before we go. Also cleaning it regularly to avoid baked on layers but its more to give it a full deep clean. I have used the chemical liquid in the past but wondered if there was an alternative?
Its a standard electric fan oven.
My SIL paid someone to come in and professionally clean their oven but that was serious baked on stuff!

We have holiday cottages and use Oven Pride, available almost in every supermarket circa £3.
You put the shelves/trays in the bag provided, add the liquid and leave.
You dab the rest of the liquid around the sides, top and bottom of oven and leave (preferably overnight) and wipe off.
It removes absolutely everything. All you need is a sponge to apply it and a cloth to remove, everything else is in the pack.4 -
Oven Pride is the one1

Many thanks both of you, I've used the Mr Muscle Oven Spray but aerosols tend to make me cough.

Oven Pride or Oven Mate. Both are excellent and don't require any create deal of elbow grease. Just paint the stuff on with the brush, leave overnight and clean off.1

Another vote for Oven Pride. Don't use it on the bright aluminium burner rings though.

Bit odd that they would call it the same thing as brand of bread1

Definitely Oven Pride, excellent stuff.
But get yourself a decent pair of thick rubber gloves, preferably with long arms because this stuff is seriously strong. I had good gloves and still got a small drop on my arm, I felt the burning almost instantly, it's strong stuff. Using it again, I'd also wear glasses for eye protection.1
