Hello

My wife bought this lovely plant but we dont know what it is and would be good to know so that we can decide where to plant it. I tried one of the plant ID apps but have conflicting information and no conclusion.

Thanks

That looks like pittosporum, there are quite a few different varieties

I think pittosporum too. That's what they look like after too long in the pot and getting unhappy. It might be a yellowish one but it's still sad. Plant it and give it a trim where it's gone leggy. It'll soon perk-up.

Thanks everyone. Planted it is. Looks very nice in my opinion, either it is yellowish or I am just too newbie. But I like how it looks!

Yes, it could well be a yellowish one, but there are bare bits on some branches and it could be denser, but it will soon respond to being in the ground.
  • I thought Choisya too, @MysteryMe

It is definately leggy and suffering - the brown spots on foliage, plus, what looks like a bit of white 'webbing' makes me think this plant is neither healthy or happy.

The pot is too small, the plant wants to spread its roots and grow but is being constricted, if it is a Choisya it requires a slightly acidic soil to thrive and because the plant needs repotting it is under stress and living in soil that has no goodness in it - stale soil.
Choisya like a lot of sun, and a stale or alkaline soil won't do it any favours

@Dedekind, look up Euonymous too, could be that - they are very tough and can be cut hard back without damaging it.

    Just a couple of observations.
On a choisya the leaves are tripartite, but on this plant they appear to be individual. Euonymus usually have leaves with slightly serrated edges.
