Covid Secure

Matt Hancock announced yesterday that all hospital staff were to wear masks from 15th June. He said this will cover all staff working in hospital, it will apply at all times - not just when they are doing life-saving work on the frontline - and it will apply in all areas, except those areas designated as Covid-secure workplaces. Could anyone help with what is the definition of a covid-secure workplace? I work in an office with eight other staff members, we’re just 2m apart.

Is your office is a hospital? This is clearly what he meant surely?0

Yes, this comment applies only to workplaces within hospitals.bradders1983 said:Is your office is a hospital? This is clearly what he meant surely?0 -
Sorry, I should have said it was in a hospital. So yes, it’s an office within the main hospital building near the wards. However I wasn’t sure what was meant by covid secure0

Well with all due respect your bosses are likely to know more than us. Give it a few days and no doubt you will get details at work, these things take a few days to get some more meat on the bones.
I suspect though that this new regulation about masks will only apply to clinical and/or public areas.0 -
Ah I totally get that. I was just wondering if anyone knew what was a covid secure area, Boris Johnson has mentioned it before but not elaborated. The impression I got from the announcement last night was clinical and non clinical0

If the office is nowhere near clinical areas then making people wear a mask all day sat at a desk doing work nowhere near the public is beyond absurd.0

Your supervisors are the only people who will know the answer for your specific workplace, but see for general advice:
