NI contributions paid how long before?

I made a bank transfer to pay voluntary NI over 2 weeks ago to fill all my gap years. I logged in to check my NI record and nothing has changed.
How long does it normally take HMRC to process NI payments and allocate the payment to fill the gap years?

In these unusual times its hard to say, they are probably short staffed and over-worked, unless you are approaching retirement soon then I would give them another month.1

No idea, but it's often July before my account updates for the last tax year that finished 3 months previously so I'm guessing it's more likely to be months than weeks. I have no idea why HMRC systems are so slow to update despite them having all the necessary information, and as things stand who knows how much longer it could take. Like venison suggests, I'd maybe give it 6 weeks and then inquire. As long as you have good records, I wouldn't be too concerned.

Thanks. So they are very slow. I'll leave until after July then and contact them if it's still not updated by then.1

I have recently been made redundant , I am 64 years old and have been working since I was 17. I do not officially retire until I am 66. Is it in my interest to maintain payment of NI contributions until I officially retire?0

In the meantime use a benefits calculator to see if you any benefit entitlement currently (possibly new style JSA or Universal Credit).Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -

Did you check that it was beneficial to actually fill the gaps?
A lot of posters have misunderstood the transitional rules most of us fall under and it's not always of any financial benefit to pay voluntary NI.0 -
