Difficulties getting electricity supply for a new office
Options
I thought I'd add this to warn people in the same circumstances as me. I've worked self-employed for home for 16 years, but The lockdown has wiped out my business and one side effect is lots of heavy big equipment has been returned. As a result my house is full, and mum mum's house is currently for sale as she was one of the April Corona victims, but it too is full of my equipment. I looked for storage, but it was crazily expensive, so I've taken on a large open plan office and I'm moving everything in there. I got the keys today and the lease gave details of the current energy supplier - Opus. I called them to tell them I was in. They took all my details, then told me they didn't want to supply the premises with electricity because based on the previous occupier, and my own estimates, I'd use less than 10,000KW of electricity, and they didn't;t support small businesses anymore. Enquiries on line showed similar stories. Bristol energy my current domestic supplier told me the same - they could not accept a transfer in from Opus because they'd make no money.
I've finally found British gas Light - who will supply me. A bit more than I pay domestically, but no choice really. So much for supporting small businesses.

I've found Eon good for my small business, it's a 1200sqft industrial unit and relatively low useage energy wise but they were fine when signing up and never mentioned anything about it.Sorry to hear about your loss as well, it's a tough time and it seems you have a lot going on. Best of luck moving forward.0
