EDF want more money
Hi all,
We joined TOTO energy back in 2017 and we think that EDF took over in late 2018 after TOTO folded.
The monthly payments were variable, dont know why, but from june 2017 to Feb 2020 we have paid £4410 for dual fuel.
EDF now want another £2672!!
Cant seem to get out of them how they got this figure.
Need some help from anyone with similar.
Thanks

Welcome to the forum.Have you been sending monthly meter readings and checking your bills? If you don't even know who your supplier is, presumably you've ended up on their most expensive tariff. Sorry to sound unsympathetic, but sadly that's what happens when you take your eye off the ball for so long. (I hope you check the oil level in you car !)Go back through your bills (or get copies) and check the readings to see whether they are estimated, especially the last one. Find out what the kWh rates and daily charges are, then do a wide market comparison, starting with the Citizens Advice and 'Switch with Which?' websites. Then vow to send monthly readings in future.1

ThanksToto failed in October 2019, not 2018.£4,410 over 31 months is £142.50 a month on average, however your Toto package wasn't carried over to EDF when they took over, although chances are it had probably expired by the time you moved anyway and you were on Toto's most expensive tariff:https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/publications-and-updates/toto-energy-customers-your-questions-new-supplier-edf-energy - "They [EDF] have put you on a deemed tariff rate", which is code for the most expensive tariff going. This sounds like a classic case of "I haven't read any meters", so go and read your meters now, get some Toto bills and get the latest ones from the EDF website and look through them for the meter readings they've used. They are most certainly going to be E for Estimate, so compare today's reading with the latest reading used for a bill and see how far out it is in either direction.0 -
Is it also a chase of I haven't checked my bank statements - ? Has the DD been taken since Toto folded. ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill1

Well the OP did say the £4.4k figure was up to February 2020 so presumably it has been taken. Unlikely that they've used £2k of energy in four months even if its all electricity.
