Do i have to pay PPI Claim company if they closed my case?

Hi, not sure where i stand...PPI company emailed me in Aug 2019 & text in Feb 2020 to say they had closed my case. I queried with Barclays a letter i received stating PPI a claim had been dealt. I explained it had been a joint account and they said they'd investigate for me. They sent me a chq last week. I have now had email from the PPI company asking for their money. As far as i was aware THEY had closed my case and it was me who actually claimed the money from Barclays. I've emailed back stating this but wonder if i do have to pay them? - as they previously stated they had closed my case. Any advice very much appreciated. Thanks...from the newbie

You shouldn’t need to, no. If they persist, lodge a complaint with the evidence of them closing your case and if/when they reject it, you can refer it to the FOS for them to decide.
