Sykes Cottages

I booked a farmhouse in Devon through Sykes for 24/7/20 for 4 families (on the 10th march) and the final Payment is due next Friday 12/6. Everyone is twitchy about the Government not allowing families to go on holiday together and the likelihood of a second peak by then.  I took out the additional insurance at the time.

sykes say they will contact the owner to request a delay to 2021 (no response yet...)
the insurance company aren’t taking any calls, have emailed them with no response...

Do we go ahead and pay the full amount and then claim back through insurance? At a loss to know what to do, please help!

thank you
sally

Anything to do with insurance is hard to answer as policies vary so much.
How much have you paid, how much to pay?
New User name as MSE gave me a number in my old one.

Whatever you are advised to do ensure you get something in writing.

I have seen some people post that unless you pay the balance it has been taken that you are no longer bothering with the holiday and you could feasibly lose your deposit and holiday.

Can i come in on the back of this with a similar query please. My in-laws have booked a cottage for 05/09/2020 and paid a reduced deposit of £55.00 on 08/09/2019. The have both been self isolating since March and want to cancel the holiday. However when we went online to cancel the website says they must pay the deposit balance of £160.00. Full payment of £484.00 is due on 25/07/2020. They don't feel it will be safe to travel for them in September but Gov advice may change between now and then, especially from July onwards. What should their next steps be please
