Using universal credit for the first time. Do I have to pay back anything?

Hi. As I am self employed,  I applied for universal credit and also have had self employment scheme money. I am very grateful with the universal credit as I have got around £800 each month for may and june, which has really helped. I have also had small business Grant of £10,000 . I am really concerned with the universal credit are they going to ask for it back?

There are two circumstances you have to repay UC:

• your claim was wrong
• you took an advance that is repayable out of future UC

SEISS may reduce or eliminate one or more months of UC (the month you receive SEISS and possibly later months), but they won't look back. Restart any UC claim immediately if it is shut down by a zero payment.

Small business grants are disregarded for UC, but if you let the funds sit in a personal bank account they will probably count as savings for the £6,000 taper and £16,000 cap.
