My employer refused to furlough me until 1st may

I have underlying health conditions so recieved nhs letter to shield. My manager phoned me on 18th March told me not to come in for 12 wks. On 25th March I asked bout furlough my manager had already emailed head office, on 26th March my manager messaged me to say she had an email from head office n I will be on full pay for the full 12wk. When u got paid in April I noticed is been paid ssp, I messaged to ask n was told their only paying ssp instead. I sent lots of evidence to say they could furlough me, my manager was in agreement but ho weren’t budging. I spoke with ho myself n the final outcome was they will only furlough me from1st may. I’ve asked for an explanation as I don’t understand why n all I got was that is the company’s decision

If you're shielding you're entitled to ssp. If the company if furloughing you for any period that is entirely their decision.

Not much else you can do if that is what they have decided. As above you are only entitled to SSP furlough is a bonus. Although first of may seems a strange time to do it from as does not make much difference to them to backdate it. Also if they have paid you SSP already and are now backdating the furlough the SSP will need to be deducted as you can't claim both.
