EON Feed In Tariff change of ownership problem
We bought a house that has solar panels fitted by the builder (Barratt) six years ago. They are connected to a Feed In Tariff with EON.
The day we took ownership (in February 2020) I called EON to tell them that we now owned the house and solar panels and they told me that the vendor would have to complete a change of ownership form or I would have to get my solicitor involved as they were unable to change anything on my say so.
I asked EON to send a form to the vendor's new address which they said they would do.
Fast forward to today, it's now four months later and I haven't heard a dickie bird from either EON or my vendor and when I try to contact EON FIT they will only take email contact via your EON account which, of course, I don't yet have. I managed to get a reply from the EON general CS email and they have confirmed that no changes have been made to the ownership of the EON FIT account and as far as I know, they are still sending money to my vendor.
I know it isn't an emergency in the great scheme of things but is there anything I can do? If I wait until EON are back at work, can I claim back any money they've paid to the old owner since I took ownership?
Can I switch supplier and sell my generated electricity to someone else? Has anyone had this kind of problem before?

Surely this should have been dealt with by your solicitor as part of the house sale ??

Perhaps. I have contacted her (my solicitor) and she is going to look into it for me. To be honest, it never occurred to me that the solar panels were sold separate to the house or that it would be so difficult to sort out. To change my details with British Gas was easy."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0
