Getting old documents shredded / destroyed ?

Anyone used a service they'd recommend?
I"ve got old files of statements from brokers and banks, receipts, packs of stuff from cars i had ten and many more years ago, etc. all sorts of personal stuff thats now well past any time I'd ever need it so have started lookin into services that come and take it away and shred it for you.
I could just take it to the dump and work on the principal that buried in amogst tons of other paper it would never be seen again but even though its well out of date there sttil semi confidential details so it should be properly disposed off. And theres too much to burn or shred myself without probably a whole day doing it

I did have a bonfire with mine, for me it was the safest way to destroy them and cheap. I've now loads of ash for the garden.

You could shred them, but that would take ages.

You can pay a company to take / shred them, but may not be financially viable.

You could do a fairly quick thinning out of what is potentially dangerous (i.e. gives personal details etc) and what does not.
Every time I get anything from a bank or insurance they seem to send more bits of paper than are required with endless information about how great their service is blah blah blah - so you could find that you can check a lot of it in the normal recycling. Then deal with what you have got left.

Feed it through a garden shredder then compost or use as a mulch.

We have a local paper recycling company that will take confidential shredding from individuals.  A few quid for a Royal Mail size bag.

Another vote for just burning it.

Since the lockdown and councils reducing pickups we just burn everything, paper, cardboard, plastics etc.

Before we just shredded names addresses account details etc rest went in bin.

Giving a stranger your documents to shred because you don't want a stranger to see your documents seems a bit counterproductive to me.

There are shredding companies which bring a shredder in a van to you, so you can watch it being shredded (in normal circumstances, anyway)

You really should not be burning household waste, particularly plastics - The Environmental Protection Act 1990 and the Clean Air Act 1993 prohibits burning of waste and emissions of toxic smoke (which you get from burning plastics).
