Lets say for example you make £25,000 and are repaying on plan 2.
You also sell some stocks for £6000 which were purchased at £1000, with a net capital gain of £5000.
In terms of student loan (plan 2) repayments, would your capital gains be counted as income making it £30,000?

Capital gains are counted as capital gains, by people who want to count them, like the taxman. They are not 'counted as income' for any purpose.Deleted_User said:In terms of student loan (plan 2) repayments, would your capital gains be counted as income making it £30,000?

Capital Gains Tax is applicable if there is a Return on Investment on an asset, in this case Shares. If there is an RoI, this is Unearned Income (UI).
In this scenario, you are obliged to inform HMRC.
In this example, your income would be Sal + UI or £25,000 + £5,000 and your SL repayments would be calculated on such.
The Unearned Income threshold for your Student Loan repayments is £2,500, i.e. if it is equal to, or below this figure then it is not counted toward your Total Income and therefore will not impact your repayment of Student Loan.
