Cancelling EasyJet flights - what are my options?

Family holiday booked this August in Jersey - flights haven't been cancelled by EasyJet and I can't see them doing so if things continue to improve.
However we have elderly family members travelling with us, a couple of whom are in the "at risk" group.  Most of us would prefer not to travel this year regardless of the situation, but instead all go next year.

EasyJet are allowing customers to change flights but they don't go as far as July/August '21 - and they won't become available until after we would have flown this year - so this is not an option for us.  I have contacted EasyJet via Twitter (can't get through on phone, tried every day for two weeks) and asked for credit vouchers so we can rebook as soon as next year's flights are released, but they said they could only issue a tax refund and insurance note if we were to initiate the cancellation.

Just wondering what our options are at this time?  We paid via credit card, but don't think we can do a chargeback as EasyJet haven't cancelled.  We do have travel insurance with Nationwide, but again, I'm not sure we would be covered?  Fortunately the hotel is being very good, so it's the just the flights that are a problem.

You certainly cant do a chargeback merely because a few people you are travelling with have "changed their mind". If the flight flies and you are not on it you will be considered a no-show.

It would be a travel insurance job and even then you may not be lucky, be prepared to write it off.

Rather than write them off,  you could swap them for a date in the future if that's free of charge,  then change them again when Aug 21 come out,  the second swap might cost you,  but would have thought it would work out cheaper doing it that way if you re going in 21.

Thank you, that did cross my mind but wasn't sure how feasible it was.  Would you know what EasyJet normally charge for changing flights?

Looking at the EJ web page it's normally £25 per person more than 60 days, & £32 (or £47) less than 60 days, plus price difference.
