New twist SCAM CALLS

Had an unsolicited call from "BT Broadband" - Gave my usual response answer " You are criminals" and put the phone down. Moments later the phone rings again and it's the same Indian accented woman, saying "I appreciate you wariness Mr xxxx, but this really is BT and there is a problem with your router in that's carrying illegal traffic" the caller then talked me through to areas on my computer I'd never seen before, which I did with reservations
But when she asked me to add a series of letters & Nos to one item the Alarm bells really rang, so I asked her to tell me my BT account No.- She avoided an answer and prattled on about illegal router traffic, I said "This is a scam" and slammed the phone down - Contacted BT and indeed it was a scam.
BUT IT GOES ON - The following morning she rang again! To be given short shrift by me.
However I've since had 3 silent calls from the same number - 0755028240 - I must have seriously pi**ed her off and enjoy thought

I usually just say" oh just a minute, someone's at the door", and walk away. I've had some of them hang on for as long as 15 minutes before they realise I'm not coming back🙂. While I'm wasting their time, they're not scammming someone else, though I rarely get these call now1

It seems that your only defense again scam calls is that you immediately assume an unsolicited call is a scam and say "you are criminals" and then hand up. But when she called back and you actually listened you started to get taken in otherwise you wouldn't have followed any of the instructions. So she is certainly not !!!!!! off because she has found someone who with a convincing enough pitch they will be able to scam that's why they keep trying.
So just be more aware in the future and really be vigilant if anyone tries to get any kind of information from you or carry out any instructions over the phone.3 -
As above I can see no twist at all here. Scumbag scammer realises they have someone who just might fall for the scam and are prepared to start working with them with no real ID or proof, you may find your number has been sold on now.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I once had a 'microsoft' tech on the line for half an hour. Couldn't log in, computer rebooting and so on. I was washing my car at the time with the phone on my shoulder! The force is strong in this one!3

on the sofa, must have been over 20 minutes when i picked it back up and he was still there. I said we cannot find the
computer, he asked if it was a laptop and i said no its a huge beige box and i cannot find it.
He hung up.

Get one of those call blocking phones where incoming calls have to give a name, then the phone rings through and asks you to touch the 1 button if you will accept the call from <name>. I went from getting several scam calls a day to none.0

BT's name for it is Call Guardian and they build it in to some handsets. (I've got the 8500 series which was superseded by the 8600 - no idea if there's a newer-still version). In the several years since I've had it I can count on the fingers of 1 hand the number of spam/scam calls that have come through. Before that it was almost a daily thing.1

Paid BT to block calls and still got unknown calls, seems they can block witheld and international but private
numbers still came through. So it was useless and a waste of space. I got a refund on that and bought the
8510? phones and then added a £30? call blocker and that sorted it.
When they use fake UK numbers it still knows its an international call somehow and blocks it.
Only calls we get now are mobiles which is extremely rare and easily blocked.
