Bounce back loan help needed

Hi there. I’m a sole trader, have been for 15 years. My own bank the Halifax isnt doing these loans. I’ve never had a business bank account and always used my personal account for my business. I can’t locate my tax return for 2018/19 which most banks want to see if they can’t see what’s going through your account. So i’m kinda stuck. I’m not entitled to the £2500 a month self employed grant as i’m over the £50000 profit threshold. I have considered contacting Bank of Scotland or Lloyd’s as they are in the same group as Halifax and they are doing the loans but it’s a nightmare trying to speak to anyone on the phone just now. Anybody got any suggestions?

  • Bounce Back Loans are operated entirely through an online process so there is very little point phoning. Them being in the same group is also irrelevant in this case and both require you to hold a business account with them. Most banks will require you to open a business account, although some will allow a feeder account which is created as part of the process.
You can download all your tax documents from HMRC's website which you must have had access to to be able to file them.
You can apply to HSBC as they deal with non-customers, for new customers their process is a little slow, I think all other banks require you to hold a business bank account with them so you will need to apply for one and there seems to be a current backlog of several weeks, possibly more.

You can (or certainly could) get your.BBL with Lloyd's if you have an account with Halifax.
    Go to google
    Type "Halifax Bounce Back Loan"
Search result should give you a page on the Halifax website with a link to apply for a lloyds business account through there.
    Good luck.
