Best bank account ever

Looking into best offers from bank accounts currently made me wonder..

what is the best bank account deal of all time?

What did you get many years ago? Maybe 80’s or 90’s most lucrative accounts?

High interest on balance?
money back on lots of items purchased?
the bank paying you to bank with them?

Really interested to know if you had an amazing bank account that you wish was still open now ?

£250 for switching to Yorkshire / Clydesdale Bank was the best one I can think of in recent years. Easy £750 between the wife and I.

The original Santander 123 takes a bit of beating. Good interest (relative to market) on a high balance, which lasted quite a few years; ability to have multiple accounts, cashback on loads of DDs, preferential decent rates on cash ISAs (for a few years), decent credit card as well IIRC, plus a genuinely accessible Select support team.

Made quite a few bob from this over the years.

Santander 123 to my knowledge is unique as it shows the total number of how much the account has earned since it was opened. Mine is in 4 figures, but I have now been on Lite for some time. I expect a lot of accounts will exceed my total.

If we are including Switch incentives then Santander is my best, many hundreds of pounds in Amazon vouchers.

I took the earlier £150 offer...but 11 times, making £1,650. I think they'd closed that loophole by the time they did the £250 offer?
Two of us made a total of £1,000 in Amazon vouchers last year with Santander, and tidied up a lot of unused accounts too.
My best ever year netted just shy of £2,500, but that included a good few Nationwide referrals. They were only £50 a time, but there was no 5 per year limit back then.

I  expect the very best deals will be offered to those with large amounts of wealth.  The banks will love gaining a customer who has  a yacht, private jet,  several  homes worldwide  and  an investment portfolio  the size  of a small country's annual budget.
  • Monthly bj was one of the best perks imo.

Err, we are still talking about bank accounts ?

Nationwide Flexible and Flexible Direct Account.
I know there is a requirement to pay minimum of £750 to get annual EU insurance with NW Flex account.
What about Flex Direct Accout. If you do not expect interest anymore, is there still requirement  to pay £1000 monthly ??
