How do you cope with a tandem driveway?

I'd be far more worried about a shared drive than a tandem drive.

We have a tandem drive. We currently have 3 cars (I can only drive two due to disability). We rarely have to shuffle cars about as in normal times I’m normally first out and last back. Even if we do need to swop it’s pretty easy,0

When i say shared drive, i mean the main road breaks off onto private tarmac and then each house parks along the side of their house. Like this

They probably mean a shared drive where it leads to two seperate garages/spaces. So you can't park on the drive without blocking one another. Don't think your picture above is a shared drive, just a tight spaced street.0

Does a tight spaced street offer better protection? E.g. council would get involved?

We got 2 cars and a works van, good fun when the wrong one is at the back. Just shuffle them round, it's no big deal.
Nothing to see here, move along.0 -
The issue with shared drives can occur when there is limited access between two houses to garages in the back garden, and one neighbour starts parking on the shared drive blocking access to the garages.

Doubt the council would be interested. Who is responsible for the upkeep of the white road? I suspect the council may only adopt the grey section. Which one are you interested in?

If you are looking at new builds, could a double width drive be added as an optional extra? On our estate, the 4 beds came with double width drives as standard, with single (some tandem, some not) for the 3 beds - but with the option of paying extra for a double.0
