Extra Fees for card payment over phone

We have a small DIY company that thankfully has still been able to continue to operate over the past few months.  Although we haven't been able to open the doors to customers we have operated a call & delivery service where the customer pays over the phone.  I received my bill and discovered that the company has been charged an extra 50p per transaction for the 'Customer Not Present' service, nobody has contacted me to tell me about the additional cost - until today.  I received an email stating that as security of the transaction is significantly reduced their rates would slightly increase and could I call them to discuss cheaper alternatives!!  Surely this company cannot profit from this pandemic as we had no alternative way to trade and why did they not contact me months ago??  Is there anyway I can claim back this extra fee??

If you weren't informed of it, then yes.  But I would go in with a view to reaching an amicable conclusion and not assume that they are looking to profit from the situation.

I suspect it will be in the terms and conditions.

Have you ever done Customer Not Present transactions before all this started? If so, were you charged then?

I suspect its always been something in the terms, one of those things that shops probably wont use a lot of in normal times but its always there in the contract as a chargable service.
