There have been a couple on this forum, where for some reason the wrong figures have been used (not the ones on the tax returns).Kattermole said:On Martin's show a couple of weeks ago he had Jim Harra from HMRC on and I recall him saying that in all the reviews they had carried out, they had found just one where it was their mistake. Obviously that might have changed since then but it's representative of how unlikely it is that your appeal will come to anything, especially when the government guidelines are being applied. They don't make discretionary decisions based on individual circumstances; they apply the legislation as it states. That means people will fall through the cracks and miss out. It's just the nature of such a broad-brush scheme. It's annoying and downright upsetting for people who are missing out through no fault of their own, but the issue isn't with HMRC. You need to campaign for a change to the legislation that they can then go and apply.1 -

For the sake of SEISS eligibility your self-employed trading profits have to be more than non-trading profits. I am well aware one can be employed or self-employed at the same time.
I have not said the scheme of or decision is harsh, however certainly think a completing a web form and a phone call is worth a possible £2k. Don't judge the merit of my appeal.0 -

I am not the judge. I am just being realistic. 2 + 2 = 4, and no amount of appeals will make it 5.5
