Self employed grant

Hi I'm a self employed decorator and not worked during the covid 19 outbreak, so I claimed the grant and claimed universal credit.
I recieved the grant but because I did they now say I cannot receive the universal credit is this right.

The SEISS is classed as income for UC in the month it's received. It may also affect following months UC depending on how much grant you received. You can of course report business expenses on your journal as well as the grant amount.

Your UC claim should remain open and you will get payments once the grant has been accounted for. As poppy says the grant may affect more than one month of UC, it depends on the size of the grant and your UC entitlement.
The grant is taken into account in the same way as if you had earned that amount of money in the month.
If your UC claim is closed you should make a rapid reclaim through your UC journal.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.1
