Hi all
I am currently working in Holland and have received a new modem from KPN which is a Thomson ST780. I have set it up and installed it with the CD Rom that was with it and it is working perfectly.
My only concern is the security on it?? Previously I tried setting up a sweex router and I had to insert different passwords to get onto the network.
Will the modem be secure or have I got to go in afterwards and set up passwords to prevent someone from outside hacking into my wireless network. i am a bit confused as all the instructions are in Dutch and I dont speak any unfortunately.
Any help is appreciated
Thanks
Sam

English manual here - http://www.thomson-broadband.co.uk/codepages/content3.asp?c=7&ProductID=528
By default wireless security is disabled so anyone can connect to your network. You need to enable WPA-PSK encryption in the router's web interface to prevent this - see the .pdf user guide section 2.3.3 for this.0 -
Thanks Chippy I am pretty sure the WPA-PSK was enabled during the setup CD Installation as I had to put in the serial code then. I have since tried to connect my nintendo wii through wireless and could not unless I put the WPA-PSK serial in. Do i take it this is now secure for wireless surfing. Yep, if it's asking for the network key it is secured, you could also change the basic log in user name and password on the router, turn off the SSID broadcast so no one else sees it or even MAC filter but if WPA is turned on then you are secure against most things.0

Puts most of us to shame. I feel like I'm exaggerating by claiming I can speak one language fluently."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"
