Barclaycard Chargeback

What does it mean when it reads
"Open" and that they have all info they need?

  • At a guess it would mean that it is active, that they are dealing with it and they require no more information from you

As above. I had someone fraudulently use my card details (newly issued card only used once at local petrol station I no longer use) to go buy a couple of Dell laptops, £1600 worth. BC did resolve it but it took several weeks. Whilst it was ongoing I was not charged interest on the disputed payments.

    In progress.
Would guess it goes to closed when resolved.

I was wondering if progress  meant they have the paper work they needed to raise a Chargeback,  or they have raised the Chargeback  so the 45 days have started.

Well normally once a chargeback is started you will see the refund on your account. Take the 45 days from there.
But many card providers will state a longer timescale, as there is no way they can monitor all the rejections on day 45 & contact customers. So it may be a while after that they contact you if any issues.
Although to be honest if it is contested it is usually sooner rather than later. But with all the chargebacks at the moment it is really not helping.
