mortgage holiday without being furloughed

Hi
at the beginning of last month i was told there was a very good chance i'd be furloughed. I panicked a bit if i'm honest and immediately applied for a mortgage holiday. To be fair Barclays granted it within about 5 days. I've just been told that i will not be furloughed (which is great) but i'm now hearing rumours that lenders (underwriters) will take a very dim view of people taking the holidays without being furloughed so should i contact Barclays and go back to normal (first 'missed' payment was only a week or so ago)? But, i've also heard that 'the damage is done' just by asking and returning the holiday and not missing any payments won't make any difference now.
Any thoughts/help/advice would be appreciated.

Contact them and discuss it with them. I am sure plenty of people panicked and applied for it that did not actually need it. I would personally be wanting to make the payments anyway as you would only end up paying more in the long run.

Nothing to stop you making the missed payments. What's done is done. Lots of decisions had to be made extremely quickly. There's nothing to be gained by raking it over now. Leave the lines clear for those that actually need help.0
