Uk self catering holiday payment due

Good morning, I’m looking for some advice on my holiday. I live in the Uk and have a holiday booked to Dorset, self catering, in August with a booking direct to the owner. I’ve paid a £300 deposit, the rest of the booking fee is due in a couple of weeks. What would your advice be? At this stage, we don’t know if travel will be allowed. Where do I stand?

As you have paid direct to the owner of the cottage, I would contact them and ask if you can defer payment until nearer the time? Our extended family has 3 farmhouse cottages booked in August and the owners have given us all sorts of options like wait and see, cancel, rebook or refund even. This is different from the cottage we had booked last month with a booking agent (still not resolved that one) I am sure most cottage owners would want to help as they understand the situation.
Edited to add the farm booking is a massive one (21 people) so they are owed a lot of money as we too have only paid a small deposit of around £300.1
