Cheap calls to Australia mobiles.

Options
I have a plan with my phone provider which gives free calls to international landlines. Most of my wife's relatives in Australia are now ditching their landlines and using mobiles, which is getting really expensive. What is the best way to get cheaper calls, via landline preferably or  maybe mobile. I don't really want to use Skype.

If you are happy to use your mobile linked to your WiFi then I suggest that you try WhatsApp.

It's simple to use, works on both Apple and Android phones, you can do voice calls or send messages, photos etc all at no cost.

If they are away from their WiFi network when you call then they would use up mobile data but if they have a data plan then that wouldn't be an issue.

I use WhatsApp all the time to contact my brother in the Middle East and it works well.

Look at UK dial-through providers offering access numbers that are within your inclusive allowances. There have been several recent threads on this topic.
