Driving an astra gtc 1.4 turbo from new my insurance category is 18 .
4 years later planning on buying a new mini . Either a classic 1.5 engine or a classic s with a 2 litre engine .
Classic is in group 19 and classic s is in group 28 .
Anyone like to guess how much insurance might go up with the 28 category .
Have good driving record no crashes , no claims etc .
Paying around £400 for the astra insurance .
living in scotland car showrooms are closed so cannot really do much at moment .

Impossible to guess - there's a myriad of factors.

The group is basically how expensive the car will be to repair from a basket of standardised impacts. If the premium is taking heavy account of the likelihood of you crashing and them paying to repair your car, it'll come into more heavily than if they don't think you're likely to crash, or if they think the chances are that your car would be written off.

Insurance group is largely an indication of how much repairs would cost in the event of a claim.  Expensive cars are expensive to repair.

Who drives the car, where it is kept and how often owners of that particular vehicle have claims are far more important.  The most expensive insurance my wife has had over the years was for an Aygo, group 2, probably because lots of new drivers buy them and new drivers have mroe claims.  Her Mercedes A class was much cheaper to insure.

NEVER get confused into thinking it's about "monthly". It's not. You are buying an ANNUAL policy. You are then buying a finance product to pay that premium off. What's the APR for that loan? Do you need it?

You're looking at premiums of £348, £420, and £444 there. How much are the premiums paid in one lump?
