Furloughed after maternity leave

Maternity leave has come to an end and been put straight onto furlough scheme. Previously worked full time, but returning on part time hours. Should pay be worked out on new part time hours, or previous full time wage before being on maternity leave?

If you are a fixed rate employee (broadly speaking you get paid the same salary each month), then your reference salary for CJRS is based on what your pay for the last pay period ending on or before 19 March 2020 would have been if you had not been on maternity leave.

If your pay varies month to month, your reference salary is based on your average pay for 2019/20 up to furlough, or if higher the pay for the equivalent period in the previous calendar year. For variable pay employees, you do count actual maternity pay for working out the figures, not the hypothetical pay you would have received if you hadn't been on maternity.
