HSBC vs FirstDirect

So i have been a first direct customer for 6 years and have been pretty happy with their service, no complaints at all really, however I have just opened a current acct with HSBC to access their regular saver and I must say im pretty damn impressed with HSBC. Being able to Instant message HSBC Customer services within the app and get connected to an operator instantly is great and also paying cheques in via the app with photos. Why on earth dont FD allow these features? The last time i sent a message via FD website online services (as their app doesnt allow you to start messages) it took two weeks for a simple reply. I plan on applying for a mortgage in the next two years so im going to stay with first direct for credit scoring sake but im honestly blown away with the HSBC app and really wish FD would move with the times a bit!

Blimey. In comparison to some bank's' apps HSBC feels old and ancient. Goodness know what you'd think of instant transaction information, geolocation on debit card purchases, different pots within the account, budgeting features, etc, etc0

haha yeah i guess, I suppose im just suprised that HSBC seems to be more mobile friendly than first direct when you would think it would be the other way around!penners324 said:Blimey. I would keep both of them tbh. I would like to re-open a FD account for the linked saver, but it's currently closed to new customers

There is no reason to assume HSBC and First Direct run similar platforms or indeed have any contact with each other
It would be a bit like expecting Marcus bank and Goldman Sachs international deposits UK to run similar systems....0 -
First Direct is a trading name of HSBC Bank UK - i.e. legally the same bank.harsh_but_fair said:There is no reason to assume HSBC and First Direct run similar platforms or indeed have any contact with each other
