Car Purchase

Hi all wonder if you can help or if anyone else has had this issue. My wife has a car agreement with a (well known dealership) and signed a new PCP agreement, as did the garage back in February2020 for the purchase of her new car. (Trade) however you wish to class it. So an agreement was signed with payment instalments arranged to begin upon collection of the new car, plus she paid a deposit of £500 to keep the instalments down. Due to the storms of February into March, the initial delivery of the car was delayed, and then when the UK went into Lockdown on March 23rd 2020 there was no way we could travel to get the new vehicle. We live about 100 miles away from the dealership. Now my wife has had three more instalments go out on her existing car, to the sum of just over £700 which we feel should be refunded to her as this is extra payments on top of the initial signed agreement. What with the fact we have had to pay for a MOT due to the delay of the storms. The dealership are attempting to say in early June, we can collect the car, they will see what can be done, look around the current market value etc. We feel this is not acceptable as her car would not have decreased in value due to not being used and a deal is a deal! Also had we paid that same extra money or as a lump sum back then, the new finance agreement would be different! The same principle as when we moved house. We had an agreed mortgage in place and had a refund as we moved 4 months after the signed mortgage agreement was arranged. Once more we feel the deal is signed and stands and all that has changed is the collection date, in the mean time my wife has paid more money off of her old car! Can anyone point us in the right direction where there is advice or advise themselves!

I am not sure that I understand the question, though I understand the annoyance.

You have agreed to pay £x for a car through a finance agreement and will still pay the same, just getting delivery of the car a bit later (because of unfortunate events but no-one fault).

All agreements have a structure and within will be a dispute mechanism. What does it say if you disagree with what the garage or finance company says.?
