Can you build a shed on a patio?

Hello all,

Looking for some advice that I have been struggling to find an answer for online. I have recently had my garden renovated and had a sandstone patio installed at the back of the garden. I would like to put a 8x8 Keter plastic shed (comes with a floor) on the patio but the patio was laid with a slight slope to allow for rainwater. Is this a concern?

The advice online that I have read is for laying sheds on the lawn and states that sheds should be laid on a flat, secure and level base. My patio is flat and secure but due to the slope for rainwater, it is not completely level.

Any advice on whether a shed base is needed and if so, what is best to be laid onto sandstone would be most welcome.

Is the 'slight slope on the patio noticeable?  Usually such slopes are so slight that they are imperceptible - after all a patio is for sitting on, perhaps at a table, so any slight slope should not affect that so I doubt it would affect a shed.
However, the shed should have provision for any rainwater to be able to flow away under the floor.  A wooden shed usually has a floor laid on battens, just enough to lift the floor off the ground (the slight air gap also helps prolong the life of the floor).
I've never seen a plastic shed so I don't know what the flooring arragement is.  If it really is dead flat then it will still be ok to place on a slightly sloping patio but bear in mind that water might accumulate against one edge, depending on the layout.  Probably won't do any harm to the plastic but you don't really want a puddle building up.  If that is the case, just lay a number of roofing battens (pressure treated 2x1 inch) under on the patio to slightly lift the shed off the patio.

Laid my 11x8 Keter on dog run slabs with a slight slope. No problems.

Thank you both, that was really helpful.

The patio is sloped in two ways, when looking from the house it is sloped down away from the house and to the right. I have poured water onto the patio where I am planning to put my shed and it seems like the rainwater will flow quite nicely away from the shed. However, I may add the roofing battens as a precaution.

How long ago did you lay your shed?  Plastic sheds are said to be maintenance free, hence why I am looking at them, just wondering whether that has been the case with you?

Been down 2 years plus now. Absolutely no problems, but in sheltered spot. Would never go back to wood!

That good, brother in law bought 2 a few weeks ago from Costco. Keter Factor 11' x 8'.  £699 each promotion at that time.

Would not put any battens underneath as floor has to sit dead flat to surface. And if not sheltered should be screwed down to slabs, Holes predrilled in floor. Mine had one set of shelves, Keter extra shelf prices way to expensive.

Bought heavy duty metal multi mesh shelf unit at home base that fills back and is about 6' high.

We have a 5x7 wooden shed on a pretty sheltered patio (the shed is tucked away in a walled corner which protects 2.5 of the 4 sides) which we purchased from Wickes. We've had it about 5 years with no issues at all in terms of damp or drainage problems.
