1 of 2 flights cancelled, will we get refund for the one that might not be?

Hello, 
To summarise myself and friends had booked flights to Malaga.

Ryanair outbound, Jet2 Inbound, Ryanair have cancelled and well I have requested my refund (I am not holding my breath) at the moment Jet2 are saying the return flight is going ahead and we would not get a refund or offer of a credit or anything (Even though the outbound flight is cancelled albeit with a different airline) has anyone had a similar experience, do we have any choice to potentially recuperate some money lost?

If the flight is actually going, they won't refund. If you cancel you can claim back the taxes, probably less fees, so actually very little

The fact Airline A have cancelled a flight is of absolutely no interest to Airline B and this is the peril of not booking it as a round trip with the same airline. Chalk it up to experience.
