Eurocamp-should I pay the balance on my holiday??

Would be grateful for any advice/tips/experiences!

Next week is the 6 weeks before our booked holiday and we’re due to pay the full balance by then (we’ve only paid the £100 deposit so far). I don’t want to pay because it’s unlikely to happen due to Gov restrictions on travel but in the T&Cs it says if we don’t pay they deem that a cancellation and we’re then liable for 50% of the cost of the holiday. If we pay the full cost (£2,000) and they cancel it looks like they’re being v awkward and not offering refunds but giving credit notes but we can’t use them next year as we have a family wedding to go to.
I’m just wondering if anyone else has had this dilemma! If so what would you recommend? From my reading I have 2 options:
1) I pay The full cost of the holiday now as per T&Cs but we will be paying for a holiday that won’t happen and then have a fight on our hands to get a refund.
2) I don’t pay but then they will cancel the holiday and (presumably) request we pay them the 50% cancellation fee.

I don’t like either of those! Any tips gratefully received! Thank you
