Your thread title is confusing.
Do you want to gift the car to your wife? - if it is on HP or PCP then you can't as legally the car does not belong to you until you finish paying for it.
If you get a personal loan from a bank and you use those funds to buy the car you can do what you want as long as you know the loan debt will be yours and not your wife's.0 -
As above. Letting her drive the car does not mean she owns it. You and you alone remain the registered keeper, and you alone are responsible for the repayments.
She can drive it as much as she likes subject to suitable insurance being in place. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Sorry for clarity, yes, It would be a car on finance, not a personal loan used to purchase the car. So I would take out the finance agreement but she would be the primary user,
hopefully this makes sense.0 -
I would think that at the least you would need to ask them if what you want to do is ok. Otherwise its your car debt, their car until paid off.bubby08 said:Sorry for clarity, yes, It would be a car on finance, not a personal loan used to purchase the car. Sorry I just read that majority of most car finance companies ban anyone else using the vehicle, it was my understanding that as long as she is named as driver on the insurance it wouldnt matter.Mojisola said:

Where did you read that? As long as you are the owner and registered keeper then I can't see the problem. No free lunch, and no free laptop

You are making this difficult by not being clear what you want, or what type of finance you intend to get.bubby08 said:

That aside, you are talking about you and your wife both using the same car. How do you think most of the world works this?0
