Nationwide payment reference

Can anyone with the Nationwide app tell me if they can view payment references on their transactions?

  • If you make a faster payment it just says 'payment sent' against the item

    if it is a dd then it also shows the sort code and account number but not the reference

    Nationwide don't show payment references, -unless it's a payment made or received via PAYM.  I submitted a complaint to them about it several years ago, and they said they'd pass it on the the relevant teams, but nothing has changed since then.  
    Even worse, -if the payment is to or from another Nationwide Account, you don't even get the person's name, let alone a payment reference.  All it shows is the sort code and account number, which makes it very difficult to tell who've you paid or received money from if there are several Nationwide accounts involved.
  • 4 years on, you still can't view payment references in Nationwide app or online.

    But there is another way! I was advised that:

    If you contact us via the app, internet banking, or the contact us section of our site, then our team can confirm the reference for you.


    So I did contact them today at 8am and after a mere one hour I was given the information. Success! Not bad for a company with a rating of 1.8 out of 5 on Trustpilot 🤡

    I can't believe that Nationwide think that having to ask for the reference is a serious alternative to simply showing it online, and in the app.

    Not sure if you are a Connect member, but when you see some if the ideas we get asked about by Nationwide (we aren't allowed to talk about them outside the forum), and then see basics like this still going unresolved after so much time, then it becomes natural to wonder whether some member's faith in the board and senior management team to get things right is hugely mistaken.

    Having to phone them up to discover the references would be a bit inconvenient to say the least in this case:
