Extremely High Bill

Those Octopus figures are very optimistic, so forget them. Similarly, your 20000kWh as being more than a five bedroomed detached house with seven people would use in the colder months is fanciful: I use much more than that and there aren't five bedrooms nor seven people. It's as meaningless as comparing petrol consumption without knowing whether most miles are on the highway or in the city centre, and whether it's a Mini or a Royce.0

The beauty of Octopus when not on a smart meter is that you will get a bill every time you submit a meter reading, so there is never any need to be unsure about what you owe.20,000kWh is a lot, but I suspect the time period is being distorted by estimated readings. We use around 15,000kWh a year to heat a 5 bedroom house as a comparison.0

...and our 5 bed place is looking to be 42,000kWh for the year. Which possibly proves my point that theoretical averages are pointless.0

Moneygrabber - looking at your other threads I see you were switching from SP in April 2017.
Who has been your supplier since then - has it always been Octopus (or one of the Coop/Flow) that transferred to it. Have you had fixes that have run out - in which case you may now be on Standard Tariffs. If its always been Octopus then in 3 years you have managed to run up a good deficit.
More info - Moneygrabber please

Hopefully the OP has been reviewing the available tariffs at Octopus and hasn't just sat there unchanged for many months...Ignore the 'Get a quote' button and just enter a post code at the bottom.Their gas prices have been very reasonable, even now, they are quoting 2.2p/kWh 17.85p/day in the Easter region, and that has been as low as 2.14p/kWh in April.
