Electrical shower parts and labour warranty

Hi. I bought a Triton electrical shower from Screwfix that had a fault which was discovered upon installation.  Due to lockdown and issues getting a replacement of the same unit, we had to buy another unit and had it replaced by my plumber. I contacted both Triton and Screwfix about this. Triton view is that as it is in the 30days window, it is liable for the Parts and Labour Warranty. I have to resolve this with Screwfix. Screwfix provided a refund for the faulty unit and would only offer a partial goodwill payment for the additional labour costs. Does anyone know who is liable for the additional labour costs here? Screwfix or Triton? Thanks

Sorry, I mean Triton is saying that they are NOT liable for the Parts and Labour Warranty.

Consumer Rights are with Screwfix .
Triton warranty is subject to any t&c they desire and usually no liability for anything else .

And (anticipating the next question) there is no statutory right to compensation for labour etc costs involved in replacing a faulty item. So you're doing well to get a goodwill sum out of Screwfix.

The Consumer Rights Act permits the consumer to seek additional remedies including seeking damages.

OP I would sent Screwfix a letter before action for the incurred costs, they will very likely pay to avoid small claims particularly if the sum is relatively low.

Did you buy the shower personally then give it to your plumber to fit or did they make the purchase then you paid them?

Did you accept the refund and partial payment from Screwfix?

I purchased the showers myself using my credit card. Screwfix are refunding the costs of the faulty shower which has now  been returned to them.

Returning the faulty item and refunding it makes it almost impossible to claim any other costs as you have accepted the retailer’s remedy to the problem .

Thank you all for your comments and insights. I have accepted the goodwill payment from Screwfix to cover the labour costs - seems to be the best option.
