Morning all, the sun has got his hat on again, Derek says that we may have rain on Wed, but he wasn't promising anything. We could do with a drop of rain just to loosen up the ground I'm trying to dig, it's rock hard. I should be as fit as a fiddle after digging it, but it certainly doesn't feel like it yet. More garden pottering and digging is on the cards for today.Dad came round yesterday with his hedge trimmer as he'd cut through the wire
Mr Fix It cut through it last year so it's getting shorter and shorter. He stayed for an hour on the patio and had an ice cream, then argued that he could now go out from today. He was under the impression that it was safe to go shopping again....... Nooooo ! I had to help him go down the steps again, but if he takes it in his head to go out I don't know what I shall to do, hopefully it won't come to that. He also asked my neighbour who's a bit of a handyman in his spare time, to go and give him an estimate for doing his hedges. He's the man who hasn't stayed in all through this pandemic, so I did warn Dad about social distancing. The neighbour is always helpful but I also told him to be careful as to what he tells him, he like the village gossip, so 2 peas in a pod there, given the chance.
I have stripped the bed, but I have mixed things up this morning with the washing loads, the bedding has gone in first for a change and the clothes will go last, oh I feel a bit wayward and impulsive todayMr Fix It is fixing Dad's hedge trimmer again and playing in his shed. He's moaning that he's used up most of his scraps of wood and metal, perhaps I'll have to find him some housework to do, there's always the ironing !!!
Right coffee break over and the wm has finished. I will hang the washing out then I must get back out in the garden, but I think I need a pick rather than the spade...... it's like doing hard time on a chain gang !!TA Same here, must be the med ancestry. It's come at the right time for me too as I may not have coped so well if it has been miserable and raining every day. I'm really enjoying my time at home and getting things on the "to do" list, actually done.Nelski I hope to be earlier chez spa today, those bouncers sure are eye candyEnjoy the company of your friend.
Camelot and Gers bet it was really lovely to be able to sit face to face and just natter.Take care all, stay safe and keep well. Hugs to anyone in need for any reason.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently10 -
Morning all and a grand one it is too.We finished all our bbq stuff up yesterday. I still have some salad stuff left from my veg box, and also some Jersey royals so will find something to go with them. Apart from the dog walk, we didnt go out again but DGD came and sat in the garden for a bit so that was nice, apart from that we just sat and read. I bought DH a thriller trilogy that came last week, he's a lot slower reading than me but he's finished the 1st one.Had a good chat with DB1, he's not been feeling too good, and after a telephone chat with a doctor had to go to a walk in centre where he was advised to go to A&E as he was feeling chesty. Sounds like he had the works, chest xray, heart, etc and nothing untoward but sent him and SIL to get virus checked-which was all clear thankfully. The doc has put it down to anxiety. He is a bus driver so it has been stressful , and one of his good workmates died of the virusOur neighbours at the end of the cottages are moving today, we'll miss them. Their little girl shouts to me from the upstairs window sometimes and blows me kisses. The sale of theirs has fallen through but they don't want to miss the one they are buying so are going to pay both mortgages for a while - hope it's not too long before it's sold. :
There was a lot of interest when it came on the market.
Nelski, I think the boys are making those cocktails too strong, I saw some of the girls wobbling on their way homeEnjoy your friends visit today, and everyone else have a good day too xx

Morning all,
Lovely morning here.......it's a bank holiday but have just had a delivery from the postman.....most unusual.
Just had a small breakfast......cornflakes with a peach, strawberries and small banana.....there is plenty of chicken left from yesterday , might make a ratatouille like the one I saw James Martin make on Morning Am, using whatever veg I have.
Nannywindow..........you have been busy......glad that your dad has been for a visit, cherish him, no matter how cantankerous he may be.
Going out to water the back garden.......will do the front when the sun moves around back later.
Enjoy your day and stay safe

Good morning folks, it's another lovely day here. Not sure we'll have many more so will make the most of it.Yesterday the decorator turned up nice and early, about 10.00a.m.. He's an older man, very gently spoken and been in business a long time. We kept ourselves socially distant, he washed his hands and used the paper towels in the bathroom. Anyway, he sent in his estimate, which I accepted (after gulping hard once or twice). I've chosen this colour which will go on the ceiling, then he'll add some white to make it a shade paler for the bit above the picture rail and finally another shad paler for the walls. It's a big old bright sunny room so the yellow should look great. As he came so early there was plenty of time to meet up with the lovely CAMELOT for coffee, chat and laughter in her immaculate garden. All that effort she's put in certainly shows with beautiful flowers, healthy vegetables and tempting herbs and fruits. I'll be going back. It was just so fab to sit and chat. It's so lovely to read about people emerging from hibernation. Bike rides, spa days
fish and chips, visiting friends / family - it's all good stuff - apart from leaks and broken hot water tanks.
I've been out and about though (again) forgot to collect my parcels. May go out again later although there's stuff to move from the dining room,we'll see.Now I wish everyone a happy sunny Monday.11 -
MeanMarie. I want desperately to keep my Dad safe, but he sometimes makes it almost impossible. It's like I have to try explain things to a child and as he's 90, he knows best. I feel awful having to be a bad cop all the time, he is the last of his generation and I have no siblings, so it all falls on me.I've hit a problem in my digging as I've found the roots of my thornless blackberry not far from the surface and going about 3ft out from the fence towards the path. I'll have to put my thinking head on to get round that issue, I'm sure it's not insurmountable but it has put a spanner in the works. I had to cut it down to the ground last year when we replaced the fence, so I'm loathe to move it and it's growing well again. It produces loads of fruit which our DGD loves to pick and eat, however there will be none this year as it grows on 2nd year stems.Right lunch break over, more digging awaits.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently8

Lazy Morning Chez Nous. Sat drinking coffee in the garden after breakfast, which morphed into elevenses. Just had lunch, whizzed up leftover soup with peas and mint from the freezer. Nicely replete so a snooze at Nelski's spa, then tea and virtual cake Chez Nous. Might get around to finding the bottom of the garden or there again might not. I think there is a rusting broken BBQ there but not sure as the brambles they have a covered it. Perhaps a hey-hoe time is needed.Hope all is well with everyone, virtual hugs too. Just realised we have not physically touched any other human being since the middle of March!9
