Hotel Refund

Hi,

Booked a hotel stay for early May, which has been agreed to be refunded by the said hotel on the 1st of May. Have been waiting for this refund to be credited each week but there’s no sign of it, does it usually take this long?

Every time I contact the hotel they tell me that funds have left their account and to check with my bank, which I did and Amex says there’s no pending refund.

Should I start a chargeback? Or will this refund show up on my next statement due 10th June? (Had a refund from enterprise that was processed on 24/4 with the same “funds have left our account” but didn’t show up on transaction list, only on the months statement)

Which hotel was it? Do you have it in writing that you will be refunded for the room?

They can't use the old excuse " the cheque is in the post" these days.

It’s from the Hyde park hotels group, and yes, they have mentioned in an email that it would be refunded.

Start a Chargeback,  if the refund has been processed the Chargeback will normally fail,  if it doesn't just tell them  so you don't get the payment twice.

Amex have advised to start a dispute, I’m guessing this is a chargeback?

Yes, it's normally the quickest and card companies like it as they don't pay it unlike a Section 75

I’ll wait Till the next statement to see if it appears as a credit, if not then I’ll raise a dispute/chargeback. Thanks!
