Hi there,

Just checked my credit karma report and it’s saying I’m not on the electoral roll at my current address. Experian and clear score show that I am so I’m not sure why...

I understand I can dispute it but would need to provide evidence. Can I just screenshot my other credit reports or do I have to go through the rigmarole of contacting my local authority for evidence?

I’ve been here for almost a year now and been registered to vote for most of that time, so don’t really understand why it’s not showing...

Not looking for credit anytime soon but would be good to sort for future.

Thanks!

You'll need to provide confirmation from the council of the ER.

The council may have forgotten to send it through the first time.

Ask the council to update them

Ok thanks - so better off just contacting council and asking them to update rather than going the dispute route? Just odd the other credit rating agencies have it.

    Thanks!

    Yes.
Its down to your local authority to update.
  • When I queried mine, my Council said they would update but also sent me a letter to confirm I was registered since xxxx. I sent that to Equifax and I'm sure they manually added me (if I remember correctly).

It might be worth seeing if they can also do that so you can send it on (incase update goes wrong, as you won't know for several weeks/months anyway).

If you're showing on Experian and Equifax then the council records are up to date, it's Trans Union (who are the credit reference agency behind Credit Karma) who need to update their records.

Go ahead and dispute it via Credit Karma or directly on the Trans Union website explaining Equifax and Experian are displaying your ER details correctly. I had to do this this year too and it got corrected after a few weeks :)

Took the council here over a year to update us onto the electoral roll when we moved. Even though I completed the paperwork within a week of moving in. Very frustrating but nothing you can do. Public sector at its finest

That makes a lot more sense. I’m definitely on the electoral roll as other credit agencies show it.
