Refund

I booked a flight through an online travel agent. Flight cancelled due to coronavirus. Travel agent are saying that they can't refund as airline are only offering credit notes. Airline is not following EU law. I am entitled to a refund. My contract is with Travel Agent and believe that they should refund me even if airline refuse to refund. They say not and should dispute directly with airline. I don't believe that this is correct as I do not have contract with airline but have contacted airline over a week ago requesting a refund. They have not responded. Is the Travel Agent correct in not offering a refund in this circumstance? I can use section 75 on my credit card otherwise.

Your contract is with the TA.
Irrespective of EU law (i coukd be wrong but I dont believe EU law is relevant here) what is the the UK law on this ?0 -
For a flight only from a travel agent it's unlikely a S75 will succeed without a long battle.
But what could (and should) work is a Chargeback, (and that's quicker than a S75)

Law is EU261/2004 for a flight refund. All airlines flying from a UK airport, in this case Manchester to New York with United Airlines should follow the law. I want to clarify whether a 3rd party should refund if they are unable to get a refund from the airline. I umderstand that they will be out of pocket but I believe that they should refund me and pursue United Airlines for a refund. The travel agent is Travel Trolley and they are the ones that have not provided the service that I have paid for.0

EU261/2004 I believe will apply to the airline only, so any claims via that method will go directly to the airline.
