Fill Spare Time Constructively… I’ve done 3 level 2 Free Qualifications So Far!

Although I am still working from home and am uber busy I still have lots of spare time on my hands so have put in a couple of hours a day of free online study and so far got level 2 qualifications in Workplace Violence and Harassment, Wine Services (super fun and really easy) and Awareness of Mental Health Problems.  I have just started number 4 Data Protection and Data Security (not so much fun but will look good on my CV!)

I’m doing them through my employer, South Essex College https://www.southessex.ac.uk/search?course_keyword_changed=1&keyword_changed_since_last_filter=1&course_keyword=online course or you can email adultskills@southessex.ac.uk

But there are a few other organisations offering these free qualifications too (Learning Curve & Vision 2 Learn are particularly well know but there are others too).  Have a search for online learning but check that there are no charges for registration or certification.  It is usual that a charge is in place for people that register and then cancel to cover costs, but as long as you complete the qualifications they should be completely free to employed, unemployed, furloughed or self employed.

  • Most online education providers are offering 20 per cent off on their courses during lock down.

Thought it would be useful for people feeling stuck at home rather than safe at home and a good start for other suggestions of useful things to do to while away the hours but it there is a better place for it I am very happy for it to be moved

I think it's perfectly alright, and indeed constructive having this thread in this forum.

Think it fits fine for here, support - making best use of time.
  • I would say it's also good for job interviews, demonstrating flexibility, continuing professional development and adapting to change.

I just hope that they can continue the free/reduced courses for some time, so that those of us who don't have any spare time at the moment (balancing working, caring and Childcare) can take advantage as well. I get at least 2/3 emails a day from work related free webinars/courses and am absolutely gutted that I don't have the free time to do many at the moment.

The online course I'm doing gives you as much time as you need to complete
