Child Bank Account - No Birth Certificate

Sorry if this has been asked already. 

We are looking for a childs bank account for our new born - but due to covid we dont have a birth certificate. We have a number of cheques payable to our little one. 

My Question is can i pay the cheques into my account and transfer the money when we open - or do i keep hold of the cheques until we finally open the account? 

Also  - whats the best account to have?

Once you are able to proceed, you need to decide whether you want to go for savings or investments. Investments will be more suitable if you want the money to grow until your child is 18.
