Furloughed 2 months after being laid off

Hi
im really worried I’ve done something wrong, unintentionally.
I was told on the 23rd March that  I was being let go, due to the virus. To be honest nobody really knew what was going on at that stage as we were to bring our computers in to be set up to work from home.I was agency staff.
Not having any family, I was renting a room and had bills to pay over and above my rent. I registered for UC and JSA. Panic set in and I started applying for jobs. I got one at Hywel Dda Health Board and on the 1st April relocated to work for them. I did 5 days training with them and for the next week, I never heard anything so came back to my rented room. I was paying to rent a room in Llanelli. I was also now going into my savings. I also applied for a job with Swansea Bay Health Board. Another these positions were Bank, 0 hrs contracts.
I received payment for my training but never worked a day for them and sent a letter of resignation. Then I got my 1stJSA payment.
I started training for Swansea on 11th May and couldn’t go any further as there were no uniforms and work had gone quiet. I got paid for that training & JSA again. Then on the 15th May I asked my agency why I wasn’t furloughed. They came back on the 18th May to say yes, I can be furloughed and back paid me to the last day I worked. No UC was forthcoming because of training monies paid.
so, my question is, have I done anything wrong and do I have to pay money back to anyone. I didn’t know I could be furloughed so did what I needed to to survive. I’ve let JSA and UC know I don’t need there services anymore. Please help as I’m loosing sleep worrying .
Thanks
Linda

For UC it is possible to work and claim this, depending on the earnings you receive during your assessment period and what your maximum UC entitlement it.
New style JSA there maybe an overpayment, depending on what date your claim started and when you were furloughed. You'll need to speak to DWP regarding that.
  • Thanks. What about the earnings for training I received before I was furloughed? Will this affect my being furloughed payments?

You haven't done anything wrong as long as your contract doesnt prevent you working elsewhere. My job is in manufacturing and I have furloughed colleagues working as drivers, night time shelf fillers and fruit pickers, not against the furlough rules to work elsewhere just not for your employer
